Overheard: In the Kitchen

Me: Wow! Did you see this?

Him: What?

Me: This light works! It's been broken for a few days.

Him: Uh huh.

Me: Did you fix it?

Him: Yeah...?

Me: HOW?!

Him: I changed the bulb.

Me: .....

Him: Can we put that on the blog?

Me: Uh huh.

New Photos et. al.

I just realized that with this new computer, iPhoto '09 makes it stupidly easy to upload photos to Flickr. So I did that, then decided to blog! Yippie for blogging! And yippie for photos!

First, the Big Switch... Can you tell which one is new and which is old? Sometimes bigger isn't always better.

Sure, the Applications folder transfer only took an hour, but the music transfer took over 16 hours!!!!

Cats just don't understand how exciting technology can be! In this photo you can also see some of the afghan that I made Stephan for Easter. Very warm, especially since it snowed last night (yes, I'm typing this on June 7th).

Finally, we have our newest 'family member'. Mom named him Larry. Can you see him? From this photo he looks like a snake, but he's not. He's a lizard. Stephan promises that he will eat the spiders (thereby saving me the heart attack of finding spiders by causing me the heart attack of a lizard crawling around).

What do you think? Should we keep it?

Commute

After spending a week driving through suburbia, my commute home from Baker to Plevna was wonderfully peaceful. It's 13 miles of "set the cruise control on 70" then turn right. Sigh. I love this.

Updating with Good News

The Lady continues to show improvements. They've declared her infection-free so hugs are back on the menu. It's been the most relaxing/exhausting week of vacation I've ever spent anywhere. Why is sitting in a hospital room so tiring?

I leave bright and early Monday morning (6am flight out of Milwaukee) to go back to Montana. The Lady won't be out of the hospital for a few more days. They've got her on steroids which keeps the water in her body, and Lasix to drain the water, and lots of insulin to counteract the high blood sugar resulting from the steroids. The complications arising from the diabetes are... uh... complicated, and making this hospital stay last forever. She's also still on IV antibiotics- now through a PIC line (an IV directly into her heart).

Thank you to everyone who sent love and prayers- I truly think it all helps. She's grateful, and Mr. Lady and I are also grateful.

Now back to Montana!
